Finances have dictated that I was not to go mad in the January sales this year. I therefore acted with due restraint and bought only a couple of new pieces at great prices including this pair of jeans from M&Co (from the brand Khost). I would describe them as relaxed skinnies, or if you have thinner legs than me they may veer more towards a straight or girlfriend-style look. They are plain in the front but on the back pockets they have a lightening strike motif. While I am not 100 percent sold on this, apparently embellished jeans are a hot trend for Spring/Summer 2022 – so I guess that is a good thing. They are more or less full length on me at 5’5″ but they also have a ready done (stitched in) cuff at the bottom which makes them a little more Spring like, and therefore an ideal transitional piece.
As finding the right jeans can be stressful, I hesitated a little before buying them. Would they look good? Would they be comfortable? Would I get wear out of them? However I am very glad I did. They are probably the most comfortable pair of jeans I own. They are soft and stretchy, and they seem to go really well with all the outfits I tried them with. I think these would probably work for a multitude of body shapes and sizes (available from size 8 to 18). I have the size 8, but its fairly roomy for this size so if you are very petite or slim it might come up quite loose on you. This pair is currently available in all sizes online at £49. While I picked them up at half price, knowing how good they are I think they are definitely worth the full price.
As well as providing great comfort and value, I also found them very easy to style up using the classic formula of pairing them with a basic v neck white T shirt, then adding a jacket, and either ankle boots or Converse. All these outfits should therefore be easy to re-create using items you may already have in your wardrobe.
Spring Jeans outfit idea 1 : Colour pop blazer, simple white tee, neutral ankle boots
In this first look, I have added a statement blazer I bought some time ago from a small independent shop in Nottinghill in London where everything is permanently at knock down prices. This is the first time I’ve worn it but I think it works well with other more neutral items. I also have a green version I am hoping to wear more this Spring/Summer. Apparently both orange and green are in this year with bright colours re-emerging on the catwalks and high street. The T shirt is H & M basic collection. To be honest its not the greatest but its priced to sell, the fit is okay and it does the job. The ankle boots though I love. They are from Primark (Autumn Winter 2021 season) and were less than twenty pounds.
Spring Jeans Outfit idea 2 : check blazer, white tee, ankle boots
Here I am wearing a classic check blazer from H & M a few seasons ago. It is quite fitted so creates a slightly smarter and classic look. I have also added some accessories. A chunky gold necklace and a black mow-croc YSL dupe bag I found in a charity shop recently. In the second look I am wearing brown leather ankle boots (old Zara) rather than the Primark ones also featured above. I guess the second pair would work better on a wet day.
Spring Jeans outfit idea 3 : relaxed khaki jacket, white tee, brown leather ankle boots
In this third look I have swapped out the check blazer for a vintage khaki army jacket. Jackets like this whether vintage or new are destined to be in style again this season and make a great option for a slightly more dressed down look. If I had wanted to dress down this look further I could have swapped out the ankle boots for the classic Converse I am wearing below.
Spring Jeans outfit 4: fitted blue shirt over white tee and camel blazer
This is a classic Spring outfit in pretty much every respect. It pairs pale blue and Camel which are a lovely tried and tested combination for Spring. The outfit would work just as well without the white tee underneath but this would work well just to create a bit of extra warmth as in the UK Spring days can be unpredictable. This shirt came from the Mango Sale this January, I can’t find the precise one online, but there are a few nice styles linked here. The jacket is old Stradivarius. I am also wearing the same Primark boots as before to tone in with the Blazer.
Spring Jeans outfit 5 – classic black blazer two ways
These are my favourite looks of the five. If I was struggling what to put on one day I know I would always feel good in this combination. I really love the way this simple fitted black blazer (old H and M) looks styled with these jeans. I have tried that combination two ways. The first is with the blue shirt and my classic pair of navy blue Converse, the second is without the shirt and with brown leather ankle boots for a slightly more formal look. I also have one small additional accessory here which is the gold bee brooch on my lapel which tones in with the chain necklace and adds a little bit of interest.
